近日，浦东复旦附中分校的10名学生、复旦附中本部的2名学生在浦东复旦附中分校施杰老师的带领下，顺利抵达美国新泽西州查塔姆高中进行访学活动。在过去的5天中，同学们与美国学伴一起生活和学习，深入了解美国高中文化。新泽西州的主流媒体new jersey hills对此次对此次活动进行了专题报道。

chatham – chatham high school is hosting 12 students from shanghai this week in the school’s first exchange with china.
the chinese students, all 17 years old, are attending classes with their american hosts, with teachers treating them like their regular students. the students also are shadowing their hosts at after-school activities.
“the main purpose is for the chinese students to fully experience american life,” said yanfei li-mcgurrin, who teaches chinese classes at chs and advises the chinese club.
she arranged the visit and would like to offer chatham students a similar opportunity to visit a high school in china someday.
li-mcgurrin said she contacted a friend, who is in charge of foreign-exchange programs at high school affiliated to fudan university, after seeing students from france and germany visit chs.
the 12 chinese students were chosen from 30 to 40 applicants based on their english-speaking ability, interest in attending a u.s. college and other factors, said shi jie, a physical education teacher at high school affiliated to fudan university who is chaperoning the students.
that high school has three campuses: one that follows the chinese tradition of students remaining in one classroom while different teachers come in to teach various subjects. the other campuses are more modern, with students changing classes as they do in the u.s.
the shanghai group will visit college campuses in massachusetts, connecticut and new york and will tour boston and new york city for a week after their stay in chatham. they also will attend a workshop saturday on the process for applying to u.s. colleges.
li-mcgurrin said the exchange program will conclude friday with celebrations of the chinese new year, which begins saturday.
during friday lunches, the chs cafeteria will serve chinese food, including dumplings made by li-mcgurrin’s students and their guests from shanghai. a group of chs students also will perform chinese classical music in the cafeteria during lunch.
starting at 6:30 p.m., about 135 people, including students in chinese classes at chs and chatham middle school, members of the chinese club, the visiting students and their host families, are expected at a chinese new year’s eve celebration in the chs cafeteria.
“it will be a big party,” said li-mcgurrin, who is organizing it alongw with other faculty members who teach chinese at chs and cms.
she said various stations will be set up in the cafeteria for the evening event, allowing those attending to try such activities as calligraphy, ping pong, paper-cutting and yo-yo. the shanghai students will perform chinese songs, dances and karate. there also will be a tea ceremony.
in her classes friday, chatham students paired with chinese visitors will make presentations on various topics that they researched earlier in the week.
the chatham students will make their presentations in chinese, while the shanghai students speak in english.
topics include comparison of chinese and western painting, chinese opera, confucius, and differences between chinese and american food.
中国学生到访查塔姆高中

本周，查塔姆高中正在接待来自上海一所高中的12位中国学生，这是该校首个中国学生访学交流项目。
这些学生今年17岁，他们跟着各自的住家学伴们进行随班上课，美国的老师们上课时对中国学生的教学以及要求与本校学生无异。课后，中国学生还会和学伴们一起参加各种课外活动。
“本次活动的主要目的是让中国学生能够深入了解美国人的生活。”查塔姆高中的中文课老师兼“中国俱乐部”指导老师李艳菲告诉记者。
此次交流访学是由李老师策划组织的，她也希望有朝一日，查塔姆高中的学生能够回访中国的高中。
关于促成此次访学的契机，李老师解释道，当她目睹了法国和德国学生相继访问查塔姆后，受到了启发，随即联系了一个在复旦附中负责海外交流事务的朋友。
“此前，浦东复旦附中分校以及复旦附中本部对申请该项目的30至40位学生进行了筛选，学校根据他们的英语口语水平、对于赴美留学的兴趣以及其他各方面因素进行分析择优录取12人（浦东复旦附中分校10人，复旦附中本部2人）。”来访学生的带队老师、浦东复旦附中分校的体育老师施杰说。
复旦附中有三个校区，本部基本上仍然使用固定班级教室“学生不动老师动”的教学模式，而浦东复旦附中分校则已经实行了与美国高中相似的学科专用教室“老师不动学生动”的全员走班教学模式。
本周六，他们将参加一个美国高校升学指导讲座。结束查塔姆之行后，上海的学生们还会在美国停留一周，他们将访问马萨诸塞州以及康涅狄格州的一些高等学府。此外，他们也会在纽约和波士顿两地游览。
李艳菲老师补充，本周五将举行的“中国春节联欢会”也是此次交流项目的一部分。
参加春节联欢会的，有李老师的美国学生以及上海的客人们。届时学校食堂将为大家提供丰盛的中国美食。午餐时，李老师的学生们会为大家演奏中国民乐助兴。
晚会将在下午6:30开始 包括查塔姆高中中文课和“中国俱乐部”的学生、查塔姆初中学生、来访的上海学生及其学伴的家庭，共计135人一起参与此次盛会。
“这将是一场大聚会”李老师说。
她还透露：学校将在餐厅搭建各种活动展台，如书法展示、乒乓球比赛、剪纸艺术、空竹表演等。上海的学生们将为大家演唱中国民歌、表演中国民族舞蹈以及格斗。
本周五的中文课上，由中国学生和查塔姆学生配对的各个研究小组，将就此前各自研究的课题进行汇报展示。查塔姆的学生用中文做报告，而中国学生则用英文做报告。
研究课题包括中西方绘画艺术比较、中国戏剧、儒家文化等。
